After the move to a new server, I got a parse error at first but then upgraded to 5.3 core and it worked except that I seem to have lost the option to select templates  Huh See attached. I have done all the updates again just and checked permissions to be sure but it's no different. Have I done something stupid?

My server is running:

PHP 5.3.9 (cli) (built: Jan 26 2012 12:18:42)
Zend Engine v2.3.0 with Zend Guard Loader v3.3

What do I do about all the content in /galleries already? Presumably, it won't find that content if I move it?

I set folder permissions to 775 and that seemed to do it without creating a sub directory.

No, you don't have to move the content from galleries folder. You just set not writable, all old content remains there. Then you create new folder in galleries/content or whatever folder you like better and post new content there because that folder is writable.

Ah, OK. Thanks. It seems to be working so far with /galleries set to 755 but will change it to your recommendations if it goes tits up. It seems the transfer to the new server reset all the permissions so we have been having lots of fun and games generally.

Ah, I see, the permissions can be easily set by typing in ssh:
chmod -R 775 *
or
chmod -R 755 *
this will set the permissions for all files and folders inside the folder you are currently located in (lets say /galleries/) so you don't have to go through all files and subfolders manually.

I'm getting the same error. The template bar has disappeared and an 'Internal server error' message is showing.
I set permission 755 for /galleries directory. but still getting the error.
All directories inside are set to 777 and files are 755 or 644.

Looks like I need to touch my server configure. (httpd.conf or php.ini)
Which part is in charge of this?

That's strange. Is /galleries/ 755 and is /galleries/core.php 644?
Feel free to contact me on ICQ: 475719552 and I'll be able to figure out and fix it quick.

Problem resolved.
It's caused by incorrect .htaccess file in the /galleries. I moved hosting recently looks like it has modified/damaged during the migration.
Thanks Chariot for looking into it.
